Soap Lake, Washington trip

поездка была замечательная. мы в пустыне не сдохли)))
природа там необычная.
тема была хорошая. мне она нужна. мне сложно это делать. быть открытой с людьми, чтобы они помогали мне исправляться, расти. Shepherding is very important and we need to be available for shepherds to shepherd us. сложно, но очень важно.

*слово awesome можно применить только к Богу. трепетать распростёршись можно только перед Богом. to be in awe, to tremble, terrible awe. God is awesome!!! (В. из К.)

short autobiography for English class

My name is Anna and I was born in a little Russian resort city on the Black Sea. Gelendzhik is smashed between the Caucasus ridge and the Black Sea, so I am very used to mountains and water around. I grew up on a little family farm at the foot of the mountain ridge. Naturally I grew up to love nature and animals because I was surrounded with it when I was growing up.
I also developed a love for the written word very early. My interest was sparked in first grade with the desire to read faster than I already was reading. I did not know how to read or write before I started first grade and it was a little slower for me to adjust to these skills, but I picked up quickly and by the end of second grade I was reading very fluently. I loved to read fast and not just fast, but to read with emphasis and expression. I enjoyed reading out loud in class and was one of the best readers in class.
The interest of reading expanded to my curiosity for writing. Creative writing opened up in a little later, when I was starting middle school, but I always liked in class essays and summaries and dictations that we often had to do in class. I enjoyed the Russian language and literature classes immensely! That was like heaven for me, well except for being outside in my little village and exploring.
Around third grade we had an introduction to English in our class to those who were doing very well. At that time I learned the English alphabet, basic rules and basic words, like colors, numbers and basic school related words and expressions. I really enjoyed that; that was an exciting journey into a new language!
When I was twelve, my family moved to the U.S. and I started school in sixth grade here, in Vancouver, Washington. That was spring of 1999. I was very blessed to know a little bit of English and to have curiosity for expressing myself on paper , because that saved me a lot of trouble of learning English from the beginning in ESL. I was placed in a high level of ESL and started mainstream classes in eighth grade. I enjoyed writing and reading and that speeded up the process of acquiring English. I took challenges and read books that were beyond my reading level and thus developed my English faster.
In Russia schooling is a lot faster, harder and more enforced than in America. I think that is why I fared so well in my first years; I caught up really fast. I also was shocked with the American system of teaching and the results that it had on students. I could not believe that high school freshmen could not tell a verb and a noun apart. That was a shock to me! In Russia, even the slackers had an idea of what these were because we not only talked about grammar and math and science rules, we had to memorize them and stand in front of the class and demonstrate our knowledge , and we were graded on it each time. I believe that this practice created a positive work ethic in me and I really appreciate it.
By my junior year, school was so easy, that I started slacking and still got good grades. That ruined my work ethic. I could get by on just being in class and listening and doing the in class exercises. Then I was directed by my English teacher to sign up for AP classes my senior year. I signed up for AP English and Honors CWP. That required more work, it was more like that Russian type schooling, but by that time I had my bad habit of procrastinating and it hit me hard. I did fine in CWP, but English was a disaster because I did not read the assigned books entirely or on time and it was hard to catch up or make up essays based on readings. That was my disaster. And I was struggling in some other classes, like Anatomy and Physiology and Chemistry.
The school system is not entirely to blame for my downslide but it did play a major role. I was not strong enough to take on challenges at that time; I failed to hold on and pass through the challenges and learn and grow as the result.
Now in college it is even harder to keep up with the individual work. But I am determined to break that habit of being a procrastinator and move on. I am studying to be a teacher, perhaps a Russian teacher because I am very passionate about my native tongue, but fist I will get a BA in Elementary Education and an endorsement in ESL teaching. Then I will see how things go and try to get another endorsement in Russian teaching. I want to help struggling students, like I was, to give them passion for learning and not discourage them from the curiosity of finding out new things about themselves and the world around them. I would love to make a difference in the lives of children, to put this basis for them, so they can be successful in the future and have less struggles than I had!

Семейное счастье, как и любое другое, никогда не может быть настоящим, стабильным и неизменным, если оно будет занимать высшую строчку в нашей системе ценностей. Дело в том, что мы созданы так, что настоящее удовлетворение в жизни мы можем получить только в Боге. Только любя Его и наслаждаясь им, мы можем иметь абсолютно непоколебимое счастье, счастье, которое не зависит ни от каких обстоятельств жизни. Только Он может насытить нашу жизнь и дать ей её истинный смысл.

В отсутствии такого познания Бога и кроется причина многих страданий христиан. Они верят в Бога не для того, чтобы научиться быть счастливыми Им, а для того, чтобы Он помог им достичь того, то они считают самым ценным и приятным. Таким объектом могут быть самые разные вещи, люди или переживания. Одни, подобно тебе видят своё счастье в том, чтобы добиться внимания понравившейся девушки, другим нужны деньги и высокий уровень жизни, третьи не видят радости в жизни без уважения и признания со стороны окружающих. Желание добиться своего, в действительности является одной из причин, почему они стали верующими. Они надеялись, что теперь они будут достигать желаемого с помощью самого Бога."

little glimpses of God's glory. they fill my heart. they calm me down. and i will live. God will provide. i shall not perish for He promised to take me home. i will live to see His holy face. i will be there. and that is joy.
there are no words to express gratitude.
He is mighty strong. strong in battle.
everyday is a battle. my mind is the battleground. and only Christ can win. i can't. i have to let Him win, otherwise i loose. and when i loose, it is pathetic. when Christ wins, it is victorious!
